Offline for a few weeks

Hi all, I know this is a relatively new blog but I’m posting this note anyway – this is a web presence creation for uni, and although I plan to continue it, I have to leave it untouched for a few weeks until it can be assessed (this includes my Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest accounts). As for where ‘everystarfall’ came from – see part of my right arm:

Product Round Up

Every so often I like to take stock of the products I’m using, how effective they’re proving and how they stack up to previous products. I have ridiculously sensitive skin that can get angry if it’s looked at the wrong way, so I’ve tried quite a range of things! Being a student means less than desirable income at the best of times, so Priceline is one of my best friends! Unfortunately for me, the nearest one is a bit over an hour away, so whenever I’m in Melbourne, I make sure I stock up!

Let’s start with face:

Cleanse:
At the moment I use Simple Purifying Cleansing Lotion which works wonders in calming and smoothing my skin, as well as keeping it hydrated. At first I was sceptical, as although the brand is listed as Simple, it does contain some ingredients that would normally cause blemishes, however I’ve found that if I do use a product that flares my skin up, this brings it back to normal pretty quickly. The downside of this product is that it’s not designed to exfoliate, so I had been using Biore Pore Unclogging Scrub, which had been great every second or third day for about 4 months, but my skin reacted to something I was using, and now no longer likes this scrub, which is a shame, as it provided a gentle yet effective deep cleanse. I’m now trying Simple’s Clear Skin Oil Balancing Facial Scrub, so far so good, but it’s only been four days, I’ll let you know! I used to tone with Lush’s Eau Roma Water but I ran out and haven’t been to a store since and my skin doesn’t seem too different because of it. I moisturise with Simple’s Hydrating Light Moisturiser, which I’ve been back and forth to in the past year, and it seems to be the most effective day-moisturiser that my skin tolerates. I also use Nivea Soft for night cream when I need it and occasionally if my skin needs a moisture boost.

Prime:
I use MAC’s Prep+Prime Skin – I never used to use a primer and my skin would get angry. Eventually I spoke to a M.U.A about it, she recommended this and I’ve never looked back. I rarely get blemishes or breakouts, my skin is smooth and even, shine is controlled and makeup stays put; what more could I want? I have tried other primers, but this by far wins.

Make-up:
I use MAC’s Studio Fix Powder + Foundation in NC35, which I have continued to repurchase. It can give anywhere from Light/Medium to Medium/Heavy coverage, depending on how I apply it and how much I use. It’s versatile, comfortable and most importantly doesn’t aggravate my skin. I apply using a sponge and then blend using a Kabuki brush to make sure coverage is even and smooth. Occasionally I feel that it’s too matte and I need a bit of glow, so I just purchased MAC’s Studio Sculpt in NC35, which I have only just received, but fingers crossed. (In the past I had tried MAC’s Mineralize Satinfinish, which was matched in store as NW35, but is far too dark for me and also quite sparkly, so it never gets worn).

Occasionally I add blush/bronzer – haven’t really found one I love yet, so I keep experimenting. I use a few different eyeliners, my favourites include an automatic one by Rimmel, in a purple colour (now discontinued), a few Maybelline ones including gel, liquid and pencil and a few Model’s Prefer pencils. I use Maybelline mascara most of the time. I was lucky to get a stash of Sky High Curves before it was discontinued, as it’s by far my favourite, but I also like Volum’ Express the Falsies Washable Mascara and Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara. As for lips, I had previously kept it pretty simple with Strawberry Chapstick or Blistex, but have recently discovered Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butters, which I have in Tutti Frutti, Red Velvet and have also ordered in Strawberry Shortcake and Cupcake, which are in the mail as we speak! The colours are amazing and range from sheer to buildable semi-opaque, depending on the colour and really do feel like a balm.

Removal: I use Priceline Calming Wipes when I can get them, I find that ‘make-up removal’ wipes irritate my skin in all sorts of nasty ways, so if I run out, I try and get fragrance and alcohol free baby wipes (currently using Johnson’s) and of course the above mentioned cleanser.

That’s all for now, but there will be more, as products, oh how I love products!

Black Milk Sharkie

“Sharks (sharkies, skarklets, sharkettes) - a predatory creature that feeds upon nylon and lycra. Usually female, they tend to feed in packs and attack with very little provocation. The name ‘sharks’ originates from the first story that was put on the website when I decided to take it offline because we were so overloaded with orders. The story was about me feeling like I have been repeatedly savaged by a pack of sharks (while wearing a Lady Gaga style meat dress. It was a little weird).” Black Milk Glossary
